Mulukhiyah
A hearty Egyptian beef and mulukhiyah stew with garlic, olive oil, and lemon, typically served with rice or pita.

Sauté the onions in olive oil until translucent.

Add the beef cubes and sear for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.

Add water to cover the meat and simmer until the beef is tender (pressure cooker can be used to finish in about 5 minutes).

Add the frozen mulukhiyah and stir until thawed and the mixture comes to a boil.

In a separate pan, heat garlic in olive oil over medium-low heat until fragrant but not browned.

Pour the garlic oil into the mulukhiyah, reduce heat, and simmer for 5–10 minutes.

Season with salt to taste.

Finish with a generous squeeze of lemon juice and serve with short-grain rice or pita bread.
